Why the Seagrape? As a child, born and raised in West Palm Beach, FL, Ariel Hernandez, a state of Florida licensed home inspector, spent countless hours playing and climbing on Seagrape trees in his neighborhood. Seagrape trees are native to Florida, primarily found along the coast serving as protection for dunes and providing food and shelter for the wildlife on Florida’s beaches. They were also used for shade by beachgoers prior to the laws protecting dunes being enacted.
Much like the Seagrape is unique to Florida and differ from the dune plants in northern beaches, Florida homes are very different than homes in other states and also have to be built to withstand the same environmental conditions that the Seagrape tree endures.
Being a native of Florida and having custom design and built his own home, Ariel understands and appreciates how a Florida home is built, how it should be maintained, and how the high heat, humidity, wind, and rain influences a home’s conditions.
